Plaxtol Church Wedding // Jess & Matt
Jess and Matt have a very keen interest in photography, and so choosing a photographer to cover their big day was a decision they wanted to get just right. I was very honoured to be the photographer they chose to document their day.
We chatted about photography, and old black and white film, in the run up to their wedding, and on the day when I arrived at Jess’s parents’ home in Kent, I noticed a copy of Elliot Erwitt’s ‘Dogs’ book on the sideboard; a huge favourite of mine for both the photography and the subject!
The boys got ready at a small B&B in Plaxtol, Kent, where I took some shots before heading over to Jess’s parents’ house. A stunning family home, with plenty of space around it including a large field opposite which was occupied by the marquee for the wedding reception. With all the final preparations taking place at marquee, we headed down to the village to Plaxtol church for the ceremony. The ceremony was lovely and featured some joyful singing, and a really wonderful version of Ryan Adams’ song ‘Desire’, beautifully performed by one of Jess’s brothers. After the ceremony, it was back to the marquee for drinks and canapes in the late August sunshine. A delicious dinner was served, and then followed by the speeches, before guests moved onto the dance floor for the couples first dance and the evening party began. A lovely Plaxtol church wedding and a really great day with Jess & Matt.
