My family photography sessions can take place anywhere you choose; at home, at the beach, a walk in the woods, and can be for a special occassion such as a birthday, or just a regular day when all the family are together. Sessions usually last a couple of hours, and during that time you will receive very little direction from me, as I prefer to document the natural interactions between children and their parents and grandparents; the best photographs are taken when moments are allowed to happen naturally, without orchestration. Not directing children means that their true characters can be captured.
I work with available light and choose to present your images in black and white. In my opinion black and white photography creates a timeless look and an artistic representation of your loved ones in images that won’t date. It’s great when you get all the family together, even the family pets can play a supporting role and are an important part of the family and so I encourage you to bring them along!
I have been a documentary photographer for over 10 years, so that’s a lot of time watching, observing and photographing human interaction. I bring these observational skills to my family photography to create a timeless record of your family, photos to be cherished by this generation and the next.
