East Quay Weddings

East Quay Weddings // Lucy & George

East Quay weddings are always enjoyable: whatever the weather or the time of year, it’s a great space to celebrate with the beach right outside and a unique, rustic interior. It has an enviable location and in summer the sun sets out to see, casting gorgeous warm glow. It’s also the most local wedding venue to where I live, another reason why I am so fond of it! Lucy & George chose to get married at East Quay on a glorious and warm August day that was full of fun and had a relaxed vibe to it. Lucy got ready with her bridesmaids at a little cottage in Whitstable a short drive from the East Quay. She arrived for the wedding in an immaculate white vintage Beetle convertible from Kent Beetles, super cool! The ceremony took place upstairs, with a little nod to Chelsea F.C, George’s team. Outside, the newlyweds were greeted with confetti, and then everyone enjoyed an afternoon of soaking up the sun with a few drinks. After dinner and speeches everyone headed back out to the beach for ice cream from a retro ice-cream van. It was a beautiful evening, perfect for some low light portraits of Lucy & George down by the water’s edge. The evening celebrations kicked off with the judging of ┬áthe Bake Off; guests had made cakes and although there was some stiff competition, the prize went to George’s grandad who wowed everyone was his cracker of a Dundee cake. Evening entertainment was provided by Morrissey & Marshall, and there was even a surprise performance from a young guest who got up and impressed everyone with his guitar skills. The party is one of my favourite parts of the day to photograph, and Lucy’s and George’s guests were certainly up for a party!
