Cafe Royal Wedding

Cafe Royal Wedding // Amy & Sophie

A Cafe Royal wedding on the blog today. Slap bang in the centre of London’s West End, with views of Piccadilly Circus and its famous lit up billboards, this glamorous hotel was the setting for Amy & Sophie’s equally glamorous day. The girls both got ready at the hotel, but in separate rooms, and both looked stunning in white lace dresses and sparkly Jimmy Choos. The ceremony took place in the Queensbury Room, with the girls being walked down the aisle by their parents. This room has floor to ceiling windows, but given it was a late afternoon ceremony in November, the room was not flooded with natural light, but lit by spacecraft-like circular lights on the ceiling, which gave an intimate and low light feel to the ceremony. After they’d left the room in a shower of confetti, there was champagne and canapés to be enjoyed before dinner in the majestic Pompadour Room. Whilst guests were chatting, I took the opportunity to create some portraits of the girls on the roof of the hotel. Lit only by available light, and with the world famous Coca-Cola sign giving off a soft red glow, we were able to create some relaxed, natural and intimate photos. Back inside and into ”one of the grandest ballrooms in London”. This room has been carefully restored and features many original features from it’s 1856 build. It’s decorative ceiling depicts scenes of love (how apt) and low lights and mirrored panels  give it a twinkly look, perfect for a winter wedding. Dinner was followed by speeches before the girls hit the dance floor, shortly followed by everyone else and Carl from Mighty Fine Entertainment ensured it stayed full all night. A great day with Amy & Sophie celebrating their same sex wedding at an amazing London location.
